So obviously, being a guy, I looked at her pictures, decided she was cute, and accepted the friend request. But all jokes aside, i did message her asking who she was. I completely forgot about this until like an hour ago. She messaged me saying that i had a cute avatar and asked if we could be friends. Then she asked if i had a girlfriend. I pretty much knew right then and there that something fishy was up. I checked her profile page, and she created an account in , but she barely had any posts and only like three people had posted on her wall.
Also, i couldn't see how many friends she had since it was blocked? She also only has like 3 pictures in her album. I mean, is this a fake account? Does she not have very many friends? I haven't really had strangers friend request me before, and by strangers, i mean, like not even a friend of your old high school teacher or something.
Is this normal in facebook to have random strangers friend request you? I've used it since like but haven't had this happen to me. Anways, I tried to stop the conversation by answering curtly but she kept asking questions and asked again whether i had a girlfriend.
I told her that she looked pretty, but that I didn't feel comfortable talking about this kind of stuff with a stranger. She said some other stuff and then said good night and called me"pretty" boy. Not sure what to make of this. I'm kind of scared that someone is stalking me now and will kill me in my sleep only half joking. It's crazy but im a pretty paranoid guy. Maybe I should just take it as an ego boost, but still Maybe its because of the catfishing stories nowadays with manti te'o and chris anderson.
I just thought all those weird invites were from adverts. Once you friend someone they get info about you and potentially more info about your friends. Treat it casually, don't think to much in to it.
Its like pretending you just met someone new with no attachment. This should help you figure out things in the long run. I mean this is your conversation you kinda have to be the one deciding what to do. What matters outside should not affect what you do with whats happening right now. Obvious catfish is obvious. I've had a load of requests like this recently, really strange o. I would unfriend them immediately. It sounds creepy. It is also possibly fake. The fact that she is hiding so much is also something to be suspicious about.
But then again I don't tend to accept friend requests on facebook from people I don't know at all. I have a few TL friends, otherwise everyone on there are people I know irl. Its pretty common. What to invest time caring about. Random chick on facebook messaging you or cute Korean girl working at the store you go to every day.

Clearly this one has used the right bait. Hong kong really isnt that strange of a country for these things to be coming out of either, plus you can type random first names into facebook and get hundreds of peoples accounts up from areas nearby your own account, which is probably where yours came from.
People being paid to make accounts will do so in various regions to broaden their potential. Delete it, its a "scam". Do a reverse image search on her pictures. Apart from that: chat away. Dont share anything too personal address, phone, Dont get emotionally attached. But you actually can talk to random strangers on the internet. Dont visit any links they send. Do not hit "accept" yet. Not until you're ready. He or she has already seen your profile picture, so no use wasting your time on that. Instead, cast a critical eye on the 5 pictures on the top of your profile.

Em's a something who's reluctantly navigating dating apps while simultaneously pursuing her studies in social science. This week I opened up my DMs to find yet another message from a guy who I've never interacted with but who persisted on contacting me. This time, he was asking me where I lived. There's a solid chance this guy was a troll trying to scam me somehow catfish style but whether he was who he appeared to be or not, I was not enjoying his presence. It's not the first or the last, I'm sure time I've had to block someone, from former coworkers to internet randos.
