But nearly every week the kids come running in from the back-yard with a leaf or rock or bug or something to look at under the microscope.

We tend to use the lower powers as the eyepiece for the higer powers has a very narrow field of view. But the lower powers still open up a whole world of things that are unseen with the naked eye.

While we can't pick out any strucures in a cell, or even see most cells we've been able to see the outlines of some plant cells. Having the binocular scope seems to be easier for the kids to see with and it This is a great scope and I'm enjoying using it very much. I have not used a 3D microscope since biology class in high school very many years ago. I had forgotten what a thrill it is just to look at common everyday objects super up close. The only downside I can see to it is that you need to use a very small Phillips head screwdriver on tiny set screws in order to loosen the eyepieces and replace with the different Power eyepiece.

The microscope came in a reasonable time frame. It is capable of doing most tasks for college level biology. It you are on a budget like I am, then this is microscope to buy. The microscope is great. My 10 year old loved it. Give yourself maybe 20 minutes to become familiar with it, and allow for patience.

It's not that difficult, it's just that it lacks directions yes, bizarre At that point I was full on irritated. Just wanted some directions!!! My suggestion is to ask for the emailed directions before you even receive I am a veterinarian that purchased this microscope for use in my clinic for examination of blood, tissue, urine, fecal samples, etc.

It actually arrived a few days early which pleasantly surprised me. It was well packaged in styrofoam and appears to have no damage from shipping.

I have used it several times already and it is comparable to or better than other microscopes I have used in practice. For the cost it far exceeds my expectations! Will definitely recommend this company to others and will use them again in the future.

I could take pictures with the camera of my ipad and the results were impressive see the shared photos. A great find in this price range. I bought this as a first scope for my grand daughter and her science minded Dad to learn with. I liked that it had a book, samples and more for them to get started with. I am impressed with the quality of this scope for its price. The kit is wonderful and has everything they need as beginners to learn about using such an instrument. The optical quality is not up to a Japanese Nikon but that is not a fair comparison by any means. The reality is this scope is far better than one could expect for a device prices this low.

It has exceeded my expectations and is certainly very good for a starter Valdez Bay Area, CA. Recently when one of my pet aquatic snails laid eggs, I used this microscope to monitor their development and to check the babies for signs of life once they hatched because they were too tiny to see with the naked eye. Pros: - Wide objective makes it fairly easy to find your target - Interchangeable stage plates are great for when you need contrast or don't to see your specimen well - Binocular-style eyepieces make it easy to adjust when switching viewers Cons: - To get the full range of magnification, eyepieces have to be swapped out by removing two VERY tiny screws.

Luckily, I almost never need the 10X eyepieces and get along fine with the 20x. Only 12 left in stock - order soon. I am really pleased with the product. It was very easy to use it with Mac and with Android. It is an excellent resource to use with students in classroom or Biology Lab, they are really happy discovering great images everywhere. Absolutely recommendable, the Wifi box makes easier to catch interesting images everywhere. I had hoped this would be strong enough that, not only could I see things better, but that I would be able to see things that I would not even have discovered with naked eye.

My main concern was that this might be little more than a macro-only point-and-shoot camera. But it is definitely far higher magnification.

For example, I was able to use it to read the super-tiny serial number on the side of my wife's engagement ring diamond. I believe any mainstream diamond these days that is certified or appraised has such a laser-engraved serial number, not sure. I took the same photo of a 20 hypodermic needle with both high and low resolutions. Interesting that after careful visual inspection I concluded the -lowest- resolution had slightly better clarity than the highest.

Go figure. What I really, really miss is polarization to thwart I use this microscope almost daily, and when I'm not on it - my daughter explores her rock collection : I use this primarily for hobby electronics and PCB work.

Specifically for hand soldering or inspection of reflow or hot air rework attempts. Using just the 1x objective and standard eyepiece, you can actually see the solder balls in solder paste - it's that powerful.

So does the rest of the family. I bought this after realizing the limits of a regular microscope for magnifying the big, chunky things the kids REALLY want to see up close.
