I understand an estimate is just that, a quote or evaluation of what they believe it will be, but when there is such a large discrepancy something has to be done.

Completely unprofessional and I feel I have in a way been cheated. What stops them from grossly underestimating moving costs to undercut their competitors so that you choose them, and then once they arrive you are in a sense married to them regardless of how fast they move. In my opinion there has to be some sort of cap on the deviation from the initial quote.

To keep both their company and movers honest about getting it done as quickly as possible. I am willing to work with the company. What is frustrating is that I do believe all of the movers themselves tried very hard and were good guys.

My issue lies with the initial estimate and the subsequent handling of my complaint. It is my hope that I am given a refund that brings me closer to my initial estimate. When a customer contacts us about a local move, we do our best to get complete information over the phone and then provide the customer an estimate of the time the move might take and the corresponding cost if the move goes for that amount of time.

We tell the customer this is only an estimate because we can't possibly gather all move information over the phone.

We use this data to constantly refine our process to try and be as accurate as possible. It is also in our best interest to provide accurate estimates because we use this information to schedule truck time and mover time. Once this move was booked, our Operations manager reviewed the move details and decided to place a third mover on the move free of charge. When our movers arrived at the load sight and further assessed firsthand what was being moved and the move circumstances, they immediately did a "Revision of Estimate.

The customer signed the Revision of Estimate before we started moving and the move went just over an hour longer than estimated. This move was third floor to third floor and could not be performed in less time than the movers executed the move. Customer Response. Saying they added a mover free of charge would be justified if they quoted me and then hit the quote.

I have the proof and document of this final charge. Furthermore if they realized that there was an issue with my estimate and needing to add a third man why was I not contacted about this.

Once they arrived of course I signed an updated estimate, I already explained that once the movers arrive I am in a sense married to them. What am I supposed to do cancel my movers on the day that I move and then have no one? What about the fact I was told I would receive a phone call from your company and then never did? How do you justify treating a customer like that?

I am a 31 year old business man who has friends constantly moving from apartment to apartment and city to city, and this much I vow. I would shy away from using them in Memphis. I understand an estimate is just that, a quote or estimate. Completely unprofessional. If you're looking for movers at a reasonable rate that will be honest look elsewhere. I hope it is for you to "make a statement" instead of working with me on this. Again your defense of "we reviewed after and added an additional mover" So you reviewed it, added a mover and still missed your target by nearly 2 hours?

How many hours would it have taken them. I'm sure your company won't care about this, and will brush me aside as a small fish in a big pond. But as I said any time someone brings up the word move, the first words out of my mouth will be not to retain your companies services.

There is really nothing left to say. We dealt with this customer fairly. We provided an estimate based on the information we were provided. We provided an extra man on the move, free of charge, to expedite the move.

We advised the customer when we arrived that it appeared the move would take longer, the customer signed the revised estimate, and we performed the move. The move took just slightly longer than the estimate. An estimate is just an estimate, it is not a binding price. We do all possible to provide a very accurate estimate, but it is impossible to exactly estimate a move. That occurred January 29, to January 31, During this move our furniture was severely damaged.

Prior to the move Insurance was purchased just in case of damage or loss. And after the move the company was contacted about what and how much damage occurred.

I contacted a vendor in the Texas area to come access the damage for cost to repair. The vendor was advised by the retailer from where the furniture was purchased.

And asked me if it was ok for him to find another vendor in the area. And I told him sure that was just fine. The problem was that I was never contacted by another vendor that he would have contact me. Stating that he was not going to be bullied or hurried and that claims can take up to six months.

And now he is requesting estimates from two more vendors in which I have agreed to seek and pay for the estimates. Also I have forwarded copies of all proofs of purchase of everything damaged. Repair I want all furniture damaged repaired. In addition three large pieces of furniture was donated to charity after they had inventoried what had to be moved.

His daughter performed the final walk through with the driver and pointed out all damages. He provided me the estimate and the charges for repair are extremely higher than any vendor I use locally. I told him we need to get other estimates before proceeding. I started searching for vendors in his area and made calls to a couple to make appointments with him. He starting complaining even more and assured him it will be taken care of but I will not be bullied or rushed.

Finally I decided to work the claim by process and told him he needs to provide two other estimates before I proceed. Status: Resolved. This company moved me June 2nd, damages occurred and reported that same day by the movers and by me. On August 30, no remuneration has been received.

After filing a complaint on damages on June 2nd, I have made multiple calls to this company to request payment and as of August 30, I have received no communications nor payment. I called this morning and their accounts payable person stated it is up to the bank after a claim is filed and they had no control of when it would be paid.

This is contrary to me speaking to the manager from accounts payable eight days ago that stated that it would be paid in a few working days. Given the poor quality of the move, and the damages sustained, I request that the money allotted under this claim be paid immediately. I would be embarrassed to have a claim go for two months and not resolved the situation. No excuses, but our Operations Manager of 19 years left unexpectantly about the time of your move.

It would be an understatement to say that this caused some issues right in the middle of our busy moving season. I'm not sure where the breakdown in getting the reimbursement check requested was, but it was sent to payables just last week. I was out of town and processed the payment the day I returned. I apologize again for the damage and the delay. Please know this is not the way we do business and we hope you will allow us the opportunity to earn your business again in the future.

Although they indicated the check was mailed early last week, it arrived today, more than three months from the move date. The men called 2 more to bully me into signing this horrendous receipt, which I refused to do. I was afraid and the men were told to leave. Their supervisor supported them, even though I had already called before this about them being over an hour late, going to the bathroom 3 or 4 times, being on their cell phones, and basically just taking their time. They also stole a Little Tykes picnic table by telling me everything was off the truck when it wasn't, and then refused to bring it back to me.
