Meet the man tackling climate change one YouTube video at a time

In recent years, leading figures such as David Attenborough have brought these environmental concerns to our attention, imploring the public and politicians to make necessary changes to our economy and way of life.

While actions are being taken to challenge these ecological problems, climate change is still a daunting issue for individual citizens to come to terms with.

However, science journalist Dr. Adam Levy has decided to take action by championing the environmental cause on his favourite platform: Youtube. To make his own contribution to tackling the issue, Adam began talking about climate change in videos, taking complex ideas out of the academic bubble, and making them straightforward and engaging. Since July , he has uploaded 65 videos to his channel, where he discusses a wide range of environmental issues. Using libraries, pubs or cafes, Adam is a versatile creative who puts a lot of time into creating various types of content.

The majority of my time goes into writing, editing, planning and promoting. Which is a shame, because that's often the bit I enjoy the most! While the climate scientist loves working on his YouTube channel, he still has to take on other jobs to pay the bills, such as making broader science videos or podcasts for different publications.

For the scientist, using YouTube as his main platform is a logical strategic move to raise awareness in a younger audience:. This means we need to tackle the emissions from everything - from electricity to what we eat - quickly and in parallel. The young scientist hopes his channel will act as a wake-up call about the situation, as he urges governments to give an appropriate response to the climate crisis:. By Sarah McGee. The scientist uses his academic background to make complex environmental facts more accessible Sign up to FREE email alerts from Wales Online - daily Subscribe When you subscribe we will use the information you provide to send you these newsletters.
